Feb 23 2013 Respect Life

We live in such troubled times, and unfortunately so many look for simple solutions that will not take that much effort or demand much of us. People and our government leaders have lost a respect for life and do not understand why there is so much violence in our society. Yet so many ignore the beginning of life in the mother’s womb and allow this gift from God to be ripped apart so somebody need not be bothered with any responsibility. Do not tell me about choice as the child murdered in the mother’s womb was given no choice. The mother, father, court, or government has no right to deny that life.

Yes we have become so selfish now. Government allows millions of these murders to occur, but does not understand why so many people are murdered in our society. How can you expect people not to act violent toward each other when our government supports the culture of death about which Pope John Paul II wrote. We must respect all life not just when it is convenient for us.

Currently the government is looking at gun control and many argue that Chicago has many laws but it does not stop the murders. They need look further and look at the gangs in Chicago, a brutal mix of people who have lost the respect of life for others.

It is the respect of life we must seek. Simple gun control will not stop the violence. Trying to explain murders because of violence in movies is too simple as many support violence agreed between a doctor and a woman which sentences an unborn child to death.

When will we again return to a society that has more respect for life, and turn away from a culture of death. “Despite the generous efforts of so many, however, the idea that elective abortion is a “right” continues to be asserted. Moreover, there are signs of an almost unimaginable insensitivity to the reality of what actually happens during an abortion, as evidenced in recent events surrounding so-called “partial-birth” abortion. This is a cause for deep concern. A society with a diminished sense of the value of human life at its earliest stages has already opened the door to a culture of death.”

” While it is true that the taking of life not yet born or in its final┬ástages is sometimes marked by a mistaken sense of altruism and human compassion, it cannot be denied that such a culture of death, taken as a whole, betrays a completely individualistic concept of freedom, which ends up by becoming the freedom of “the strong” against the weak who have no choice but to submit.”

There are many valiant soldiers fighting against this culture of death and they need our support and prayers. As we pick on the weakest, the unborn, need we all wake up because the next might be us as we become old and are seen as a burden to others and euthanasia like abortion may be used against the weak.
